SEEK HIM ~ SEE HIM ~ SAVOR HIM

SCARED ~ Five Minute Friday Blog Link Up

They say our stress response when we are scared is fight, flight or freeze.

I’m a freezer and sometimes a flighter, what are you?

Last night as I lay awake almost all night, I thought of this and thought we need to add faith to this list. No, it’s not our natural inclination, but it’s what fights the fight for us and allows us to move or proceed.

My daughter is having a major brain surgery today and to say I am scared is an understatement. She had one last year and I was just as scared but this surgery seems like such a bigger deal and has had me frozen in my thoughts for months and trying to escape the anxieties.

I don’t know why I don’t have more faith in this. Why has this crumpled me? I’m scared I will lose her. I’m scared she won’t be the same. I don’t always trust God for the miracle or for doing more than we can think or imagine. I want to but I guess I’ll be prepared for whatever if I’ve worried about all the what ifs.

Fear has been battling for my faith and at times it has won.

Today as we walk her to the operating room I will walk in faith because truly there’s no other way to walk. Fear paralyzes and as much I would like to stop the clock on all of this, I can look at the last several years and see the Lord has brought us here. And He is good. And faithful and worthy of my trust. He also loves me and my untrusting human heart that waffles between faith and fear.

So the next time we talk about our responses- fight, flight or freeze, let’s be sure to add faith in there not just as the 4th man in the fire but as the one that trumps them all.

Please pray for my girl, E. by the grace of God, she is NOT scared. What a gift.

Thank you, Sarah

Oh sweet Sarah, I understand your fear. My favorite scripture that I used during Seths hospital stay is Exodus 14:13
Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today”.

Sarah, Mark 9:23-24 Jesus says, to a father asking for healing for his son, “All things are possible to him who believes.” The man replied, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” Jesus knows your conflict and He loves you through it. May you feel the Lord’s comfort and peace as you wait through your precious Ensely’s surgery.

Absolutely add faith to that list! Faith over fear! That’s so tough, though! Praying for beautiful Ensley and her Momma and Daddy, too!

You’re so brave to write this, to reach out.

Sometimes we hold it all inside,
    praying that somehow we may
find a place where we can hide
    from that crucifying day,
and it takes courage to reach out,
to seek hands we trust are there,
to seek hearts we hope are stout
and that are poised, and full aware
of the help we sorely need,
    but barely can articulate,
that can hold the slender reed
we’ve become by twist of fate
and carry us through aching night
into a sharing of the Light.
