Waiting on Justice to Prevail: Habakkuk 2

by | Sep 14, 2021 | faith, God's Word, old testament, Uncategorized | 2 comments

Habakkuk 2 begins with the prophet proclaiming he, “Will wait to see what the Lord says and how He will answer my complaint.” (verse 1)

The Lord responds with words about the proud and how they trust in themselves, are never satisfied and believe their money will buy them security. God goes on to say that the arrogant’s work is in vain and the man-made idols they create and worship are lifeless and can bring them nothing.

Whoa, right?

Several harsh words from our good God, but He is serious about sin, divided hearts, and idols. Yes, He is love but He has always and will always hate sin, much more than we do. We must remember this.

The most encouraging verse from this chapter is verse 3: “If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”

Habakkuk was waiting on justice to prevail and evil to be gone. Aren’t we, too, dear friend in Christ? We long to see the day when goodness, peace and joy prevail, but instead are often left seeing grief and chaos at the direction our world is heading.

What’s a believer to do while we wait? Turn to God, trust in God and wait patiently. Look for the good, acknowledge the good, live in pure faithfulness to the Lord and trust that wrongs will one day be made right by Him who sees all, knows all, is above all and in control of all.

Waiting with you,

Sarah
