Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I am praying for each of you.
I am hopeful you are able to be with family and/or friends this week and praying that even amidst all the turmoil and uncertainties of this year, you are able to simply give thanks.
Even in the hardest of times, there is always something to be thankful for. I’d love to hear what you are most thankful for this year.
A few things I’m thankful for this year:
•You all!! I am thankful and humbled that you would take time out of your day to read my words. I’m thankful for your heart that longs to seek, see and savor the Lord with me and the guests I have on here.
•I am thankful for the family that will be sitting around my table. My parents both had Covid a few weeks ago and it was very scary initially. It was hard not to think the worst, but they each only had mild to moderate symptoms. And now can be around us with no worries for the holidays! Grateful for that, too!
However, I know many of you will be seeing an empty spot at the table this year and I am so sorry. Holidays are so hard after we have lost loved ones. Please let me know if you need extra prayer for this reason and I will pray for you and your family!
I remember the first few holidays after my brother died being very hard. He died mid October so we were faced with Thanksgiving and Christmas right away. It wasn’t easy, that’s for sure, but somehow we survived. Or maybe we’re rescued as my friend Liz talked about last week.
Anyway, the point of this post was to share a song I woke up with in my head today. It’s an old one, but good one, because we can always be thankful for Jesus and what He did for us on the cross.
Great Is The Lord by Michael W. Smith (1982) (click to hear)
Great is the Lord, He is holy and just,
By His power we trust in His love.
Great is the Lord, He is faithful and true,
By His mercy He proves He is love.
Great is the Lord, and worthy of glory.
Great is the Lord, and worthy of praise.
Great is the Lord, now lift up your voice,
Now lift up your voice.
Great is the Lord.
Great is the Lord.
Great are You, Lord, and worthy of glory.
Great are You, Lord, and worthy of praise.
Great are You, Lord, I lift up my voice,
I lift up my voice.
Great are You, Lord.
Great are You, Lord.
Great are You, Lord.
Great are You, Lord.
Great are You, Lord.
Let me be honest in saying, I know all too well how hard it can be to say “Great are you, Lord” when walking through death, grief or difficult life circumstances.
My heart tends to turn away from the Lord when things get tough. I have to continually remind myself of His love, His perfect plan and His redeeming power so I can utter those words. But these words and hearts of praise and gratitude toward Him are much more life-giving and comforting than the alternative.
There is always something to be thankful for. If we find that one thing, I promise we will see more things to be thankful for. The Lord is great and worthy of our praise. He cushions our blows and redeems our stories of pain and loss. If we can’t see it now, we can trust that we will one day when all evil and death and every tear is wiped away! Until then, we have His Spirit to help us, comfort us and guide us.
Thank you for your time, friends and I hope this post and song encouraged you today.
Love you all, Sarah ❤️

Print, cut out questions and randomly assign them to places at the table, or one person ask and everyone can answer each question. We LOVE doing this for great discussion and fun with the kiddos!
