I used to be a dancer, still am around the house to embarrass the kids and especially when no one is looking. Of course my body can’t move the way it once did, but music usually makes me start moving. The rhythm draws out the dancer in me; on beat with the music, in motion with the tune.
I looked up the definition of the word rhythm: a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound.
Makes perfect sense when it comes to a song and dancing, but what if we apply it to our life with Christ?
Do we have a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound with Him?
I spent years dancing to the beat of my own drum- the worlds drum. But then, when I began to dance and move with Jesus, I changed and found the fulfillment I had been looking for.
I not only danced with Him, but for the first time in over a decade, let Him lead. He led me to repentance and a change of heart. He led me to surrender and joy. He led me to His Word and time with Him- a daily rhythm of meeting with Him at the start of my day.
What is your rhythm with the Lord right now? Is it strong and repetitive? Or are you beating to your own drum? He is there, waiting on us to look to Him to lead us as we dance through this life, always ready to guide us if we let Him.
I pray we all develop and keep in tune and in step with the rhythm of the Lord!
